How much space would it need and what would you keep it in?

  1. I'm not sure on the specific weight but it would need a room sized enclosure. I would keep it in a spare room or build a large enclosure in my basement (if I had one) and keep it in an outdoor enclosure (when weather permitted).

  2. idk

  3. I guess at 7 it could weigh as much as 5 stone / 70lb, but this can varry depending on diet. But as adults they can get up to 100 lb quite easily.

As for where to keep it that is quite simple to me.  Out side in a field  with access to a large heated indoor space with UV.  African Spur Thighs also know as Sulcatas do not hibernate, they wonder the open spaces of Africa often raoming for miles.  Keeping them in an indoor space and depriving them from natural daylight and little space to roam is not really an option.  I live in the UK and quite frankly I know of very few that are given the space and freedom they deserve, because most people just don't have the space.  They are forever on the Tortoise Trust Rehoming list.

Please think very carefully before taling such an animal on.  In the UK there are no restrictions on these animals unlike other species.  As such they are frequenlty sold as tiny hatchlings in pet shops with no explanation of how quickly the grow or how big they get.
