It depends on the size of the card.  you dont necessarily have to purchase a nintendo brand card either...those tend to be pricey.  walmart carries the same thing, just without the word nintendo on it.

If you buy a 2gb Micro SD card, I have it, but it works for my cell, it's about 20.

It's free just open the slot next to the disc-holder. But buying them depends on the space 1GB is 15 bucks.
