  1. pay is based on your rank and time of service. every branch of the military gets paid the same, whether coast guard, army, airforce, navy or marines. follow the chart below.

  2. Starting pay for active duty (E-1) is around $1300 per month.  You also get BAS, a subsistence allowance, and BAH, a housing allowance (you only get this if you don't live in base housing), that vary depending on your duty station.  Other benefits include health care, which is free for active duty Marines, but not their family members (though it is very affordable), BX/PX and Commissary privileges, retirement package, college tuition via the MGIB or tuition assistance and access to various discounts and special offers on things like property/life insurance and financial services.

Oh, and you also get an enlistment bonus.

  3. Here's a PDF pay chart for basic pay. On top of that marines get BAH and BAS. I can never remember exactly how much BAS is (somewhere around $250/month for us) and BAH in Southern California is $1820/month. Health insurance (Tricare) is really good coverage even for dependents. People may have other opinions but I feel very well taken care of by the marine corps.

  4. The Pay varies by your time in the service and your rank.

Benefits include free health care(and dependents) if you live in the barracks you don't pay rent and your meals are free. GI Bill(for school), VA Loan for you first home purchase.

  5. Look at the link below. It is a 2008 military pay scale. You go by pay grade and years in service to figure it out.

  6. type in "military pay scale" in a search engine and "military ranks" to see what pay category they qualify for.  Just search and ye shall find.
