Also, is it better to get just a younger tortoise or a baby one? What would be the vet bill after purchasing a tortoise? Or would they already be vaccinated and stuff if you got them from a pet store? Would it be better if I got a tortoise from a breeder, or does it matter? Thanks!!

  1. Russians come in two 'flavors'- wild-caught adults or 'teens', and captive-bred babies or very young. The wild-caught are cheaper, but more likely to have parasites and be badly stressed by their ordeal.

They don't need vaccinations, but I always recommend a vet check and parasite exam for newly purchased adults from pet shops. This is not so important with captive-bred from a good breeder.

  2. around 120$, dont know about the vet bill, they dont really need any vaccinations, a breeder is definately better, petstore animals are not treated well and can carry diseases. A younger tortiose will survive better than a baby, remember they need sunlight, and uva/ub bulbs.

  3. Go to the pet store and ask them.  They're bound to know that, unless they don't sell tortoises.

  4. saw one 4 $70.00
