  1. I have rescued bunnies before and looked after them while looking for a perminant home for them and let me tell you: they dont make very good pets!

Because they p**p constantly , you cant really have them running free around the house so sadly the alternative is to have them in a cage or a hutch outside, and thats no life for an animal.

any animal that requires being held captive in a cage or a tank is not ment to be a pet. Try adopting a dog or a cat from the spca instead :)

  2. bunnys? like bugs bunny?

no idea! but i would say like 100..... but why do you wanna buy a bunny? lol

  3. rabbit: $10-30

cage- this depends on a lot of factors, but can be anywhere from $50-200

food- about $5 for a 5 pound bag, which lasts about a month or so.

bedding- can be wood chips (not cedar) or recycled paper, costs about $5-10 a month.

toys/treats- these are optional, but about $5 per month.

    hay- about $10 per month

vet care- this can vary widely, but you need to plan for it. At the very least you should have your rabbit spayed/neutered, which probably costs about $75.

Total: $160-335 to get started, plus about $20 per month.

  4. If you're starting off I would sugest going to a pet shop, they normaly sell starter kits, mine was on sale normally 150 on for 75. It had the water bottle, a bag of food, a bag of wood chips, a bag of alfalfa, a box of bunny treats, all of it the Living World/Hagen brand. I only need to buy the bunny a place to sleep, nail clippers, toys, and cage cleaner. I spent around 180, the bunny was 30.

I'd sugest go to the pet shop and price what the cage would cost, or a starter kit, and save up.

  5. I paid about $65 to adopt an already spayed rabbit from an animal shelter in Ontario..

I use an extra large dog crate which cost me about $85 with a corner litter box that cost about $10. My rabbit is free roaming the house most of the time though. The crate she pretty much just goes in to pee and I put her in there when I'm at work. Then I have two heavy crocks, one for water, one for food.. $12 for both. I have a hay rack to keep the hay out of the bedding, that was about $5.

Other then that, I just buy aspen shavings for the bedding and feline pine or wood stove pellets to use in the litter pan..

For a pet rabbit, you really want a neutered one so that you don't have a rabbit that spins around and sprays urine up to 5 feet away. I used to raise show rabbits and can tell you from experience that neutered is much better for pets..

It's a heck of a lot cheaper to adopt one that's already neutered then to buy a bunny for $50 in a pet store and then pay $300 to have them neutered which seems to be the going rate in Canadian vet clinics..

  6. $250
