  1. It would depend on density.

    M = DV (Mass = Density x Volume).

    Soil does not have a standard density as it depends on factors such as compaction, temperature etc.

    Edit: Practical Thinking. True. There's not enough information to determine the mass though, so I didn't bother going further then that in detail...

  2. 5 gallon ;)

  3. Also remember Cloudcity CC that weight is not measured in kilograms, grams represent mass.

    Weight is a force, so it would be dependent on acceleration as well.

    Force = mass * acceleration.

    You multiply the mass by the acceleration due to gravity, which is approximately 9.8 m/sec*sec.

    So the weight would be in Newtons, or kg m/sec*sec.

    To answer your question you would need the density of this "dirt."  You have the volume (convert it to cubic meters), now all you need is the density so you can calculate the mass.

    Or you could use American meaurements.  But you're not getting off easy with that.  Pounds is a measurement of weight but if you have a volume, you're going to derive the mass if you have a density.  American measurement of mass is in slugs.  You'll still have to convert something.
