  1. well i would say ours is an average house, and we have a natural gas furnace, and during the summer when there is no heat used, our gas bill runs about $4.60 a month, depending on the current gas rates. these rates can change month to month, and state to state. but on average i would say about $5 per month or $60 per year for the cost of our gas pilot. the house we are buying, we are having a new gas furnace put in and it will have no pilot, its called hot surface ignition, never any pilot on, dont have to have that extra pilot costs in a year and dont have to worry about it ever going out on a windy night and gassing your family to death.

  2. It doesn't cost very much at all, but if you have something with a pilot light, it's old and inefficient anyway, costing way more than just running a pilot light. Probably time to upgrade.

  3. When we were investigating the cost of having a gas fireplace, with the pilot running constantly vs woodburning we were told that it would cost approximately $8-$10 a month for that pilot light.  Gas prices have increased by about 40% since that point so I would guess it would run you about $12-$14 a month.  Hope that helps!

  4. Why is this in aircraft. It supposed to be like a pun or something...?
