  1. Thats a varied question. Do you mean a made jumper? one with show experience? or a prospect coursing at 4'? Do you want it for county or for the A circuit? For a decent prospect I would expect to pay a minimum of $15,000 (propably more) and for a made horse (not top of A or grand prix), easily 40-50k. Hope that helps


  2. Depends on level of experience, and age. If you are on a 10k and below budget, your best bet would be to buy a young horse. From weanling to about two years [ before any groundwork or saddle training] they will generally be more affordable. But you must consider the boarding fees while you "wait for him to grow up", unless you have your own place. Then take him to a local trainer [ if you do not want to do the breaking process yourself] and even WITH training fees, it  will be less costly than an "already-trained" horse.
