  1. Cage with run - Anything from £50 - £100 (for a new one)

    Guinea pig - about  Ã‚£20

Foods quite cheap but you need a water bottle, things for it to play and climb on etc, hay, straw and you will need to buy fresh fruit and veg.

They're not cheap but they are worth it.

  2. about 124 dollars i have a guinnea pig

  3. I got most of my new things from Pets At home, prices:

*Plastic cage: £35 - with free Guineapig care pack at Pets At Home!

    *Food bowls: £2 each

    *Drink bottles: 99p each

    *Tunnels, toys e.t.c: £5

*You may need a run so that will be about £30 unless you make yourself which will be cheaper!

Overall: £77.99 (You'll only have to but these things once of course)

*Food, Hay, Woodshavings, Treats and Vitamins if you want them will be about £6 a week!

  4. It's a LOT better to get a used cage. I bought a LARGE rabbit cage for one dollar on Craigslist.org. LOL.

The guinea pigs are generally around 20 - 24 dollars, & their food and overall accessories probably another 20 - 30.

Guinea pigs are great, great pets. I had two for a few years but my parents were fools and made me get rid of them.

When I got home from school they'd squeal to greet me, and LOVED to take naps next to me.

I miss them so much. =/

  5. Okay heres what you need or may need:

    NEED

    - cage  60-100

    - guinea pig  30-45

    - water bottle 10-15

    -dry food 20-30

    - timothie hay 20-30 ( you can use like hay for your horses)

    - chew toys 5-10

    -bedding 30-60

    - fruits and veggies each week 20-40

    - vitamin C drops 5-7

Hope this helps. THEY NEED CHEW TOYS AND VITAMIN C DROPS FOR SURES!

  6. Guinea Pigs are around £20 I think.

Cage? In Pets At Home, you can get everything you need to start for about £50.

Food wise, they don't eat lots. Probably about £5-7 a week, including fresh treats like carrots, cucumber and lettuce.

Average cost to keep, probably £10-15 a week, including all wood chippings, hay, food etc.

Good luck, they really are great pets!

  7. you will need a 2 foot by 4 foot cage at least, good quality food and hay all the time a water bottle... and at least to guinea pigs read up on them first go to www.guineapighome.com www.cavycages.com www.guinealynx.com

  8. I don't have a guinea pig, but I've seen the cost of things since I've cared for one in the past and have had many other rodents.

Cage:  Anywhere from $50 to $100, I'm guessing about $70 though.

Guinea Pig:  Should be less than twenty dollars from a pet store.

Food:  Under twenty dollars for a small bag, though bigger bags of just pellets can be around 20 or 25 dollars, though probably a better deal (more for your money).

Bedding:  Twenty dollars a for the medium big pack. (Care Fresh)

Toys:  As much as you want to spend, really.. $4-12

    A house: $15-20

    Ceramic Bowl: ~$6

Water Bottle: Under ten dollars in most cases.

I'd keep $200 handy just in case there are any last minute additions or the prices are not completely accurate, but you shouldn't need that much.

  9. Guinea pig = £6-10 from a pet shop or if the breeder can't show them, or £15-20+ for a show guinea pig.

Often ones from breeders are better tempered but still, all of them are adorable.

    Cage = £30+

    or

Hutch = £25 (for a small one) £60 (for a large one, better!)

Hay = about £2.00 per bag

    Food = £2.00 for 850g

    Bottle = £1.20

Food dish = £2.00, or just use an old heavy dish.

    Run/Pen = £20+, or just improvise!

    Igloo/Shelter = £3 (optional)

Good luck with your pets! As well as dried food, give them some fresh fruit and veg every day if you can, but aviod onions and citrus fruits.

  10. the actual guinea pig is around $30

    the cage is around 80$

and i bought my guinea pigs water for

$6 same with the food. ive also seen ppl create their own cages so if u wanna be creative it'll save u some extra bucks.lol. u shouldnt spend over 200$ not counting the fruits and veggies and those just depend where u buy it from. oo and dnt get ur guinea pig from petco!!! if u adopt its better and cheaper!

  11. Well, the price for the actual guinea pig will vary.  Please consider adopting, there are many wonderful and healthy guinea pigs that need homes.  It's a complete myth that animals from shelters are sick or have behavioural problems.  Rescues will not adopt out sick animals.  Typical adoption fees range from $20-40

For a cage you can definitely get a fantastic, cheap, huge cage by making one yourself.  I made a C&C cage for my guinea pigs and they have never been happier.  It gives them so much room to run around and play.  Mine cost around $40 and took less than an hour to make.

Hay is fairly cheap, and it is absolutely essential for a healthy guinea pig.  They need to always have hay available to keep their teeth and digestive tracts in good health.  I pay anywhere from $5-15/month for hay.  If you have space to store a bale then it is considerably cheaper, usually under $10 for a bale that will last for several months.

Pellets vary depending on what you buy.  Oxbow pellets are available pretty much everywhere because they also do web orders.  They have an extremely high quality pellet that is all I will ever feed my guinea pigs.  If I lived in the US I might change my mind and get pellets from KMs Hayloft, but that's not an option for me.  These are the only brands that are of good quality.  I usually pay around $15 for a bag that lasts for two months.

You'll also need to provide plenty of veggies.  Each day a guinea pig needs at least 1 cup of veggies with an emphasis on leafy greens.  I spend around $5-10 a week on veggies for them.

Everything you need to know about guinea pigs is in the GL care guide.  Read it over, and over, and over again!  My guinea pigs are happier, healthier and better cared for because of all the wonderful information on that site.

  12. a hutch and run can cost from 60 to 80£ or more food hay and straw dont cost much but vet bills do

  13. I agree with the above about 60  quid  to start then approx 4 quid onwards

put a pound away for vets bills each week

you maybe able to adopt a guinea for free from Pets at home if your suitable ?   but it may have a ???   problem from past owner  ....  WHY  ??

My wife wants one for the bairn,  hence up to speed

  14. As they say...if you have to ask you can't afford it.

Really just get a good safe cage and water bottel and ceramic bowl. They need timothy hay daily and fresh pellets, and a few handfuls of fresh veggies daily.Carrots and tops, cukes, romaine lettuce, raw corn and husks, parsley, etc.

  15. a guinea pig could cost anywhere from $0-$50.

I got my guinea pigs from a shelter for $10 each.

I made a c&c cage for them costing around $23 for the grids and the coroplast was free.

I have 4 outdoor hutches; 2 small ones which cost me about $25 for the one and the other one was free. I have 2 huge hutches which I also got for free-one from my sisters school and the other one from a friend(both measure about 2m-by-2m-not including sleepling compartment on the end).

If you just look around, it surprising what you can get for nothing.

Try somewhere like ebay or ask a friend.

  16. Well, I bought two guinea-pigs about 3 years ago and where I bought them they were only £8 each! - Which is reasonably cheap. And then cages - well you could probably get a decent one for under £40 but if you want the best there are obviously ones that are way more than that. Food and all that is not that expensive at all. You can get your stuff at proper pet stores, but I actually usually get it at supermarkets for less. And extras like water bottles, hayrack and a food-bowl you can get quite cheaply at pet stores. Also buying things like vitamin drops are probably only a couple of pounds. A bag of hay is about £2.99 and sawdust about the same. Btw, I recommend that you just buy one of these really large horse hay bales because you get so much more for your money.

P.S I would really recommend also getting an outside cage as when it is sunny they really love it and you don't need to give them any extra food or water as they can get all that from the grass lol! i thought I might just mention that! =)

    Hope I could help!
