what size tank? the larger the tank the larger the wattage, they don't usually cost too much though, most heaters at the store will state what size tank they're suitable for. a heater too small will strain in a large tank and a heater too large would be overkill for a smaller tank.

what country are you in? no use me telling you costs in £ when you need $!

umm... size of tank would be nice? also where are you shopping? anywhere from 5$ (mini heater for like 2g tank) to like 60$. =]
