Question:

How much does a military doctor make?

Ive researched many sources and concluded that with specialty pay, base pay, and a few other things it comes out to be about 150k/year. Is this a reasonable estimate? Also, do the pros of military medicine outweigh the cons of civilian medicine?

  1. Depends on your specialty--so you're correct.

    Military v.s. civilian MD?

    No over time. You do what you're told. You go where you are ordered. You cannot call in sick.

    p.s. Don't forget there is a war.


  2. The Canadian National Defence is offering first-year medical students $40,000 annually, if they agree to serve as medical officers for at least four years after being licensed as physicians.

    Medical students who are close to graduating are offered/paid $180,000 annually, while licensed doctors who enlist are eligible to receive $225,000 and above.
