How much would a musket from the (American)Revolutionary War Era cost, roughly. Anyone have any experience with it? I am thinking of buying one.

  1. Depends, are you talking about a do it yourself kit or an actual antique.

  2. When I went to Colonial Wiliamsburg years ago, the gunsmith would make you an exact replica musket of the era...a plain one costs $10,000.00.

An original period weapon will be MUCH more than this.

I found this article on the Gunsmith at Colonial Williamsburg. Near the end of the story is a quote:

"Because of the long rifle's handsome appearance and its reputation as an especially American tool, modern day Williamsburg gunsmiths regularly make them for enthusiasts. The waiting list is long, about four years, and the price for a weapon is high, averaging $20,000."

And remember - this is merely a high-quality replica, not a museum piece.

  3. This would depend on many factors. The provenance of the owner, was the owner a war hero? What condition the musket is in. I hope you realize that you are talking about an antique and as such, highly sought after by collectors.

A sword from that period is currently on sale at ebay for a starting bid of 1,500.00. I imagine a musket will go for more than that!
