  1. Less than $1000 and that's not all cash. The majority is food stamps.

  2. With cash AND food stamps benefits (this info may be outdated by a year or two), a family of four gets about $930./month. Where I live, you can't rent a 3 bedroom home for less than 1200./month. It is also a popular misconception that a family on welfare "makes money" on having more babies. A working family receives a $2,450 tax deduction per child, and can claim up to $2,400 in tax credits to offset the costs of child care. By comparison, a welfare parent only gets about $90 per month in increased benefits for another child. It is by NO means a glamourous life. I wouldn't want to live that way. I'm going to guess that most people on welfare aren't enjoying living that far beneath the federal poverty level. Since 1996, there have been work requirements (minimum number of hours worked each week) for welfare recipients in most cases. I believe there are still some who abuse the system, but for those who really need it, I don't object to it.. especially if two-thirds of them are children.

  3. Depends on the state and the number of children.  Some only give a couple hundred and some states, like california give as much as $600 for 1 child.

  4. I am on soc. sec. and SSI which is not welfare  in the total of $650 a month but my "welfare" part of housing assistance and food stamps, I get $200 a month. That is nowhere near enough to consider that fact that I am living the life of luxury. My food stamps is gone my first week buying up hot dogs and ground beef. My whole big $40 in food stamps..

  5. i was on temporarily when living in AZ...im a single parent..was going to college and working full time..but i needed surgery...belive me its not a lot..even though the majority of ppl think it is..i received $200 cash per month and about the same amount in food stamps..not a windfall by any means....i had to live with a relative during this time, until i healed from my surgery...

  6. Most welfare recipiants do not make an income on welfare...they sometimes receive housing subsidies, but mostly receive food stamps and Medicaid. Welfare statistics: 64% of recipiants are children under the age of 5. 6 million are the elderly, who have no other form of healthcare and who rely on social security and subsidies as their only income, and Veterans and the disabled...1 in 4 Veterans are on welfare.

  7. depends on how many of them "punishments" you can pop out.
