  1. breaking the ice

means starting a conversation and ending any awkwardness

  2. "Breaking the ice" means starting a conversation to end awkwardness.

  3. Breaking the ice is a termed used when two people get past the first awkward part of a conversation when they just meet, and are now able to talk to each other in a comfortable manner. So by saying this, a guy (or girl) is implying that there's no need for that awkward beginning, because the ice has been broken. Sorry this sounds a little confusing, but I'm not quite sure how else to put it.

  4. Dont take it literally. It means to break the silence, tension. Whoever says it to you wants to talk to you. If you like the guy, blush smile give a little laugh say hi and introduce yourself. If you dont like the guy say 'are you saying im fat?' that should be enough to send him away.

  5. It means exactly what it says.
