Beside stuff being paid for for him, how much actual money does he get and where does he get it? Not someone like BIll Dance or anyone, just a regular no name in the FLW?

  1. Most of a "professional angler's" income has to come from other sources... entry fees, fuel, etc., etc., unless you have very generous sponsors. I've worked for a semi-pro angler for a while... he was always thanking his sponsors because they'd even pay for his hotel room. If you don't place above a certain spot, you don't get a check, and sponsors don't want to pay people to fish when they're not getting paid to fish... I don't want to stoop to his level and say it's work (sorry guys, I know there's some other pro anglers who post here, but it's NOT WORK! You're fishing!! And getting paid for it!! Not saying it's easy money, but still...) but any chance to get paid to go fishing is gravy to me.

So basically, it all depends on where you place... you don't place, you don't get paid...

  2. I'am currently employed by a FLW Pro bass fisherman currently fishing on the Tour and Series. He is the owner of a small business located in Michigan in which he derives most of his income from his business, the fishing is only a side line. I don't know exactly how much he makes on his business but I know that most all of his expenses are paid by his sponsers. So far this year he has earned $ 54,000.00 on the tour.

You have to have alot of sponsers to be able to afford to fish on the tour if you don't have a regular income because the costs involved with fishing all of the tournaments is outragous. I believe it's about $75,000.00 without a sponser.

He's told me about guy's telling him if they don't cash a check at the tournament there fishing they won't beable to afford the gas to get home and of others who had lost their homes and such.
