I'm mideast coast and I charge 25 per half hour of instruction.  I'm young (18) but the head coach of a divisional winning swim team so I charge a tiny bit more.  The average where I am is 20 for private lessons.  Lifeguards that teach lessons make WAY less closer to $10.

Generally in the Midwest swim instructors earn $10-14 an hour.  However top instructors - generally swim coaches - can charge up to $30-35 for a half hour of private instruction.

I teach swim lessons for $10 half hour, $20 for an hour. My rate is pretty low since I'm only 14. But I've been swimming for 8 years. I'm also a state champ in the butterfly and distance free. I live in south Texas.
