How much does a tattoo artist make a year?????

im thinking and i might be a tat artist so i just want to know.also whats the ups and downs about being a tattoo artist? thanks!

As an artist, I can honestly tell you we get paid s**t.



I only make half of each tattoo, the average tattoo being from 90 - 120 dollars, as most people just ask for S****y little flash pieces.



So, if I am doing a 100 dollar tattoo, I walk home with 50 bucks.



And that is okay when I get to do a lot of tattoos in a day, but usually it is only one to two tattoos in a 10 hour day, if that.



I have gone days without anybody coming in, and weeks where I haven't even made 50 bucks.



It is very unstable pay.
