I'm not planning to get one. But i wonder how the tattoo kiosks can stay open. i'm sure it's pricey to get a tattoo done. for example, how much does a tattoo of a...hmm.. an angel with the size of a Nokia Xpress music, cost if it's colored or not?

  1. Yes, as you've said, it depends on a lot of things. The studio I go to in a small West Yorkshire town in the north of England has 3 tattooists: the owner; an experienced artist and a trainee. The owner and the experienced artist both charge £65 per hour (IDK what the trainee charges). The owner also has a session charge for some of his regular customer who are having large, ongoing work like a body suit. This is £200 for a 4 hour session. There is also a shop minimum charge of around £40 for small jobs. I think some shops charge more depending on if the design is colour, but they don't.

To give you an idea of actual cost my last tat, which is a black and grey Chinese landscape scene, starts an inch above my elbow and goes up and onto my shoulder for an inch and two thirds of the way around my arm (technically classed as a "quarter sleeve") took 2 sittings and a "touching up" (total of about 8 hours) and cost about £480. They tend to only charge for actual tattooing time, rather than setting up, artwork and design transfer. They also don't charge for the "touching up" session which involves tidying up, touching up bits that may not have taken so well and adding final bits of highlighting - this took about 45 minutes for mine.

    Hope that helps.

  2. my back piece is about 6 inches wide and 10 inches tall fully shaded and colored. it was also a custom tat (which cost more than flash or pre-drawn tats). i went to a licensed (which 90% of artists in the US are not) artist in a very upscale studio. his fees were 50 dollars up front to secure an appointment slot, and 125 an hour from the time he started my tattoo. my first session cost a total of 425 dollars and lasted almost 5 hours. i still need about 2-3 more hours to finish the color and detail so that's going to be around 250-300 more to finish. with tattoos you pay for quality and reputation of the artist. any good artist thats known for good work is going to be expensive no matter what size the tat will be. most good artists charge anywhere from 100-200 dollars base rate even if you tattoo only takes 30 minutes to complete. anybody that charges less than 100 dollars for a tat is not someone you want doing your ink!

  3. It depends on the size, detail and the place where you go.

  4. A lot, a small one will be at least 60-100 bucks

  5. All tattoo shops have a minimum price for setting up their equipment and getting everything ready, which can range from 20 to 50 dollars. Your tattoo is then priced upwards from there. That tattoo would probably cost upwards towards $100 if not more, due to colouring.
