How much does a top end Gulf Stream jet cost to own?

I mean the price of jet plus yearly cost to fly. I ask because I know John Travolta has like a fleet of planes. I always thought they were the toys of billionaires. I realize he makes $20 mill a film but he does not make one every year. The GS 550 must cost like $50 mill.

To answer your question, J.T. doesn't own a G-550.  He owns an old 'Corrosion Queen' G-II built in 1970.  You can pick these up for less than $3 million.

I wouldn't want to live within a 5 mile radius of that guy considering how loud the G-II and B707 are.

Variable operating costs (Fuel, Maint, Trip expenses) are around $2,300.00 per hour while overall ownership expenses (including maintenance, storage, crew costs and insurance) could be around $600,000 per year. This does not include costs for periodic maintenance procedures such as $1,000,000.00 for an engine rebuild, $ 200,000.00 for a paint job or $300,000.00 if you want your interior refitted.

From what I know, it sounds pretty accurate, although I would question the cost of an interior refit.  I suspect it's usually higher.
