  1. There are two rail companies operating from Birmingham to London: Virgin Trains operate from Birmingham New Street to London Euston every 30 minutes and the journey takes 90 minutes. If you book in advance via the Virgin website or at New Street Station you can find some very low fares indeed

www.virgintrains.co.uk. If you can't book ahead their Saver return to London is £39.50 (one third off with a rail card www.epicsavings.co.uk) Savers on Virgin can be used from Birmingham on any train on weekdays arriving in London from 11am onwards and on the return journey you cannot depart from London during the evening rush hour. There are no time restrictions at weekends.

Also from Birmingham Moor Street and Birmingham Snow Hill Chiltern Railways operate to London Marylebone

www.chilternrailways.co.uk; their trains take around 2 hours 15 minutes and operate every 30 minutes; they are slower but cheaper than Virgin. You can book off peak tickets on Chiltern over your mobile phone for £6 each way (see their website) or buy a return for £18 (does not have to be bought in advance; cannot be used before 11am and there are evening return restrictions from London)

  2. £29.50  london euston see
