My family live in a village near Long Buckby which I am sure you know is the station before northampton, and for an off-peak train to London Euston with underground gone 9:30 (off peak time) return ticket costs £26.60 so from Northampton it would be abit cheaper than that. You can also get deals if you have several people with you.

    I wouldn't advise traveling on a sunday, my mum did it to meet me in my flat in Kensington and it took her 6 hours to get down to London because of train works, Network Rail is simply rubbish, but things may have changed

    This should be helpful seeing as I used to live near and family still do!
