  1. um... it depends where you are going in italy, what hotel your staying at, how muchh food your gonna eat, and what class of plane ticket your getting....

but lets set up a hypathetical situation...

say you want to got to venice for a week and your living the good life 5star hotel, 5star food, 1st class plane ticket and hmmm... whatever else

food: probably around 1000-2000 dollars (because 1 euro is now like 2 dollars)

hotel room for a week-price from the hotel palace bonvecchiati- (it also matters when your going im going to say september)(for 2 adults)(executive room-least expensive): 2820 euro=  $4,395.2482

plane ticket: 1000-3000 -i really dont know that one

you can ook some of this stuff up and find a hotel you want to stay at and the airline you are going to fly witha nd the restraunts and the tours... etc

    hope it helps

  2. My friend and I decided to go to Italy on a whim, since it was out first time, we felt more comfortable taking an escorted tour...We booked a trip with Gate1travels, this included airfare, hotels, travel, breakfast every morning, and 3 dinners; it also included sight seeing in every city we visited. We stayed 10 days and traveled from Venice-Tuscany-Rome...stopping at different locations in between including Pisa. For a single price it cost me about $3200.

I spent about $400.00 euros on shopping and food in between...especially gelatos...

It was the best, and I didn't even feel like I was on an escorted tour, I felt free, just like if I had gone by myself

  3. This is a pretty broad question.  It depends.  Will you be travelling first class, business, ...?  Do you want to stay in a four-five star hotel or will a youth hostel be okay?  Do you want to eat in fancy restaurants or will a trattoria do? Or maybe you prefer eating sandwhiches and sliced pizza?  Where will you be travelling to?  Capri and Venice are lot more expensive than say Bari.

    I live in Italy.

    Are you a student? Adult?

What is your departure city? How many days? How will you get around? Are you staying in one city or do you want to visit several cities? When are you going? Summer? Early fall? Late Fall? Winter? That makes a big difference in price.

Are you staying in youth hostels? Nice hotels or budget hotels?

Do you like big meals or snacking?

    Estimate for traveling within August/September:

    Airfare: at least $1000

Hotels: at least $100/night usually includes breakfast

    Food: at least $25/day

Going city to city involves trains costing anywhere from $15 - $90 depending on where you're going.

  5. I went to Italy in April on a school trip.  We went for a week, and I paid about $2,500 for the basics.  This included plane tickets, bus rides (once we got to Italy), hotels, meals (most of our meals were in the hotel), all the sights, the tour guide, and tips (for the maids, bus driver, tour guide, etc).  We went to Sorrento, Capri, and Rome.  I did bring another $300 for souvineers and stuff.  Keep in mind that the value of the american dollar is decreasing, so it may be more expensive now.  When I went, $1.40 was about equal to 1 euro.  Now it about 2 euros to the dollar.
