My girlfriend is fixing to buy a used Pontiac Trans Am and this guy took out the carburetor and some sort of wire connecting it. I was wondering if anybody knew how much it would cost plus labor putting it in...I'd appreciate any guesses or ideas knowing this. Thank you.

  1. I bought a used carb several years ago and it cost $50, but it wasn't computerized. Labor was free, 'cuz I did it myself.

  2. that car does not have a carburetor nor did it ever so if you dont even know that dont buy the car you will be in a world of hurt

  3. thats a fuel injected car and doesn't have a carburator, it looks like a carb but it isn't, it could be throttle body injection, I would try to find a new one or a rebuilt one from a parts store.

  4. hi,, the guy was probably trying to rebuild the carb.  .  assuming all the parts are complete, about two hours labor should be good based on the books of the shop itself. but call to get a more accurate rate.
