  1. Answer to your question is, NOTHING. They are giving them for free. If you are already with an Internet Service Provider who would charge you for the service, then change to one who will give you it, Gratis.

  2. Anywhere from $30 to over $100. Depending of where you purchase it and how much money you have to spend.

Make sure it's also a wireless modem/router/access point or you will run into more issues.

I have already purchased a few real good ones from ebay.

  3. take your pick :D

you can get a piece of c**p practically for free, or one of the higher-end ones for a bit more.

  4. Depends on where you look. I'm thinking you can go as low as $20 but I wouldn't recommend that. The lower the price usually means it's a bad product.

Here is a whole site of routers you can look through. With ratings and reviews to help you find what you need:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis...

If you find one you like you can order it or chances are you can find it at a store near you.

I suggest the Linksys WRT54G. I bought it from Newegg a few years back and I love it!

It's fast, easy to set up and it works like a charm.

Not the cheapest router but you can't go wrong with it.

    Good luck.

  5. You get what you pay for.

Examples in link, but around $60 to $120

I assume you have a high speed internet link to your residence that the router will be connected to.

  6. You can get a good one for around 50 bucks but I'd go with a Linksys 802.11n router for forward compatibility; it goes for around $100.

  7. a weak and slow router it is 40 dollar and the fastest 100 dollar
