If you are a student studying in Paris and you are under 26 and can prove it with a letter from your university in Paris or a photocopy of your student card, you can apply for a Carte imagine R. The rate depends on how many zones you want to cover, but if you choose the first two zones it's 286€40. If you don't qualify, you'll have to apply for the Carte Navigo, which you have to top up.
