Nothing, and no you need your partner there. It's also hard to get one.

Are you afraid of him - if there's abuse you can get away without charging him with assault, and possibly eventually divorce.

Cmon are you serious? NO you cant do that behind your partners back. Some states its VERY VERY hard to get one too unless he turned out to be your long lost brother or is legally insane.

depends on the state, if they will give you one. You can not get one without the spouse knowing... Personally I do not believe in annulments, if you made the mistake of getting married be like everyone else and get divorced.
