You need to go down and file for child support, and they will determine how much money he is responsible to contribute to the welfare of his children. I hope since he is not paying, that you are working and not making the taxpayers pay for your children. I don't mind helping anyone out in times of trouble, but not when the man isn't made to take care of his part of the responsibility.

Assuming all 5 children are his- it would be calculated according to the law.  It would be a percentage of his income per child.
