  1. I read that the starting salary for commercial pilot is around $17,000. Eventually once he/she gains more experience the salary can go up to $30,000.

  2. depends on the airline you work for. but i hear they make a good salary.

  3. well, it's real hard to fly an air plan, so i guess it's like 500,000 a year, because while there are many air-PLANE pilots, there are only like 7 airplan pilots in the WORLD.

  4. When you are in your first job like I am......Next to nothing, 22,000 a year. Barely enough to pay off your training loan each week .

  5. Depends on what type of job you have, what type of aircraft you fly, how much you fly etc.  Somebody that's jsut instructing new pilots, doesn't make much money at all.  A military pilot might make $50K a year.  That's based off of rank, and not what they fly.  Airline pilots or pilots that fly for companies like Fed Ex, can easily make over $100K a year.  You will have to have years of experience before you ever get to that point though.  Some crop dusters that own their own business and follow the crops every year, can make half a million in a year.

  6. a lot

  7. Depends on what type of aircraft he flys

  8. i don't know, but i know that the people that help and serve the plane people or whatever make like 200,000 or something like that.

  9. Pilot salary is generally measured by hourly rate.  Per the Federal Aviation Regulations a Commercial Pilot flying 121Q (scheduled service - this is the most common regulation) can fly a maximum of 1000 hours in a year.  So effectively a pilot making $40/hour, would make an annual salary of $40,000.

All pilots unions have published contracts which are public information and include pay scales.  You can find most airlines pay scales at www.airlinepilotcentral.com  On the right hand side you will see links to different types of carriers (Legacy, Regional, etc) select the type of carrier, and then the name of the carrier you are inquiring about from the next list.  At the bottom of the carrier page you will see a pay scale.

It generally takes 3 years to upgrade from first officer to captain at a regional.  After about 4-5 years at a regional you generally have enough flight time to work for a major airline.  At a major airline it generally takes 10+ years to upgrade from first officer to captain.

    Here are some rough estimates

First year regional pilot (FO) $17,000

Third year regional pilot (FO) $27,000

Third year regional pilot (Captain) $35,000

Ten year regional pilot (CA) $55,000

First year major pilot (FO) $35,000

Ten year major pilot (FO) $80,000

Ten year major pilt (CA) $100,000

  10. $65-80,000 a year is common.

  11. they're paid through the airline that they work for
