  1. The UK has 2 tiers of payment. Domestic which is around £3,000 a year and international which is about £7,000 and above depending on the course.

You can only qualify for domestic if you have resided in the UK for more than 3 years.

Alternatives are private colleges in the UK which offer UK degrees for a fraction of the International Student rate at Universities. However, be warned that many of these colleges are not genuine and you really need to do your homework about which ones offer good quality education

  2. The same as a UK resident it all depending on circumstances

  3. The question depends solely on your residency before attending university. If you are an American but have lived in the UK three years prior to studying then you would be considered a home student and entitled to student benefits which include low tuition, financial aid, and reduction on Council Tax. However if you are coming from the States or have not been in the country three years you would be considered an international student not entitled to student benefits.

The cost for an international student varies based on degree being sought and university. At the current exchange rate $20,000 + would be a good ball park figure for tuition at the undergraduate level. That figure does not include Council Tax, books housing, food, transport and utilities.  Most likely you will pay an addition $20,000 so you could easily expect to pay $40,000 for tuition and expenses. My recommendation would be to contact the University you are interested in attending, find out if you would be considered an international student, and if so how much their tuition would run. Then add an additional $20,000 on top of that figure to give you an idea of how much you can expect to spend for one year of studies.

  4. it depends on the level of the course and the instituation at which you will study. usually for a university course it would cost an overseas student about 7 or 8 thousand pounds a year, although post grad courses could cost over £10,000 a year. also you will have to rent accomodation, pay bills, transport, food, materials etc. so i would guess it would be pretty expensive.
