  1. You should be able to get all the information you need off this website:

    Good Luck!

  2. no such thing as an average architect.

straight out of college, working for a small practice, doing dogsbody work, like door schedules, maybe earning as little as £15k pa.

norman foster earns quite a bit more! he was in the list of 50 richest men in uk a few years ago, i think he was worth £40million.

and then there's the rest of us in between.

the bottom line is, it's a great job. it's different every day. if you are creative you get lots of opportunity to express it. if you're pragmatic / technical you will also be valued. and you get to see the fruits of your labours go up as real buildings, which other people respond to.

also, it's a Profession, so in spite of what the builders sometimes say behind your back, there is genuine kudos.

but money? not like the other professions.

on the downside, there are sometimes long hours; not because the boss forces you to, but because we mean it. we stay late and work weekends to make the project better. and not many architects in this country actually get paid overtime at all. if you want to get rich, learn the law.

  3. All the guys I know earn £30-£45K depending on where they work and who they work for. They work LONG hours.
