i saw one for 25 bucks @ target just the other day that had a built in mic. But if you want a better picture you probably want to go for one thats around $40. Just make sure you don't get fooled by that myth the bigger the price the better it is

my wife just bought a logitech quick cam at wal-mart for under 20 buck 18.88 i think just 2 weeks ago

If you go to store like Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy etc etc, depending on how nice you want it to be, it'll run you around 30 - 50 bucks. And, I can't think of a webcam that doesn't work with a laptop that's out now. Logitech is a good brand that I've been using for quite some time.
