  1. The last 3 weddings I attended (I live on Chicago) cost about $25,000 for about 200 guests ( and that was without all the bells and whistles).

  2. about 5 thousand

  3. Average is about 30,000 but if your tight on your budget you could do it for half of that.

  4. I think it all depends on how big the wedding will be.

I lived and married here in houston last year with a total of 300 ppl (just family!) and we needed up paying close to 15 grand...and thats cause i wanted something really simple. but the fact of having lots of family added into the food and ballroom cost.

  5. Somewhere around $30,000. It's un-friggin-believable. The Photographers, alone are about 2,000 for a good one. Then another grand or so just for a limo to take you from here to there. $500 for the church. $60 - $100 dollars per guest for dinner and open bar depending on what food you serve and if your having dessert. Oh yeah, then there is the Cost of invitations, wedding dress, shoes, tuxes, center pieces, Wedding favors, rehersal dinner... It's adds up FAST!

  6. I don't know where you are thinking of having your reception in Millennium Park. I have attached the pricing sheet for the space along with additional fees. Pricing for just the space ranges from $2,500 (Choral Room) to $50,000 for the Pavilion. In addition, you must bring in a caterer (you have to have event insurance so I am pretty sure that you can't do your own food), you have to hire entertainment, photographer, florist...

  7. wow... i'm doomed then... planning my wedding in Chicago also and it's gonna be around 200 - 250 ppl... in June of 2010...

    Congratulations!

  8. Because Chicago is a larger city, it will cost more if it is in the city limits.  The average wedding in the US is about $27,500.00, with the East and West Coasts leading the pack.  I've been to some NJ weddings that have been about $40,000-$50,000, with the reception dinner and open bar ranging about $30,000 ($150 per head @ 200 people).  That doesn't include the dress, flowers, and all the other expenses.  If you are trying to figure out your budget, figure on the average of $27,500 and scale down if needed by cutting your guest list, offering a smaller menu, etc.

Just wanted to note that I have been looking at places in the area and the common reception costs are about $100-$150 per head.  NJ is big on all inclusive wedding packages which usually include the cocktail hour, full dinner, open bar, and custom made wedding cake, plus linens, china, and sometimes centerpieces.  If you have your reception in a place like a public park that doesn't charge a usage fee, you may be able to cut corners but you'll still have the expense of catering, table and chair rentals, tent rentals, dance floor rentals.  It might just be less expensive to go with an all inclusive catering hall.
