My neighbor is going to give me his fifth wheel. Its an old 70s fifth wheel, about 30 to 32 feet long. No slides. I'm trying to figure out how much it weighs so I can figure for my truck. What is the tongue load of a rig like that? What is the total weight on average?

  1. It's going to be around 10,000 lbs. But the weight should be listed in the paperwork he gives you. You also need to consider the weight you'll be adding to it in cargo such as all personal belongings, food, fresh water, LP gas, tools, accessories (like people), and other items that can be carried by the unit.  The sites referenced below can give you info on tongue load, etc.

Sounds like good times ahead. Check out the Woodall's camping guides at your library. And get a "Next Exit" book from any WalMart or truck stop.
