  1. Anywhere from 2-10% of their sales. Most modern restaurants or bars will have a POS (point of sales) system for the servers to use. This tracks their sales.

  2. the basic rule of thumb of tipping to a bartender is 20% of your total  tip take in your shift. lets face it , all you have to do is deliver the drink where as the bartender has to know the drink recipe, garnish+, and presentation. management will never get involved as it's illegal. The 20% covers the tip out to barback and porter(janitor) as it's the bartenders responsibility.I work with cocktail waitresses who think that 10% is more than enough as they think the tip is based more on their looks(and fake b***s) than the awsome taste of the cocktail. remember what comes around goes around. how much respect do you want from your co-workers? in  A TIPPING INDUSTRY YOU HAVE TO RESPECT  THE TEAM YOU WORK WITH! so figure out if greed is more important than respect and you will answer your own question.

  3. should be about 10 percent

  4. as a bartender, you really dont need to be expecting to make your wages off the help/co-workers.making certain associates wait for their drinks b/c you feel they didnt tip proper is the same as making customers wait longer based on what THEY tip.money fluctuates for all tipped employees.good days, bad days.its a great business and a positive, friendly attitude will take you far and earn you great money.if you choose to retaliate it only makes YOU unproffesional.be better than that.servers who improperly tip out usually improperly do other things that find them without the job soon thereafter.stay true to the job,and stay focused on the bottom line.make people feel welcome.

  5. when i cocktail, i tip out 10 percent of my tips to the bartender. at my work cocktailers buss themselves so i dont tip a busser. if i had a busy and lucrative day, and got lots of drinks, ill tip more. there is no law about tipping out but it is usually a company policy of some sort. i bartend as well, and if i make a lotta drinks for a server, and i know they had a good night, and they give me a crappy tip, well, they will be waiting for their drinks next time i work. i give what i get and vice versa. im not gonna bust my butt as a bartender for someone who wont tip out what they should, and i dont expect a bartender to bust their butt for me if im not going to tip proper.
