  1. id say about 10$ a person. depends also if your going to be eating breakfast lunch or dinner. as prices go up in some restaurants depending upon the time.

if your just going to be eating at your typical chilis, applebees, tgi fridays type of places, id say 10-15$.

im assuming a 2 star hotel wouldnt have a restaurant in them, however im sure restaurants like the ones i just mentioned would be close by.

  2. San Diego is in California, so that makes it much more expensive than if you were in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Now if you eat fast food, of course you can get by on $4 - $7 a person. If you go to a gourmet fast food restaurant (Schlotzky's, Quizzno's, Steak Escape, etc.) add another $2.

San Diego has nice restaurants where working class people go, try to find them. They will be much less than the ones all the tourists go to.

2 star hotels probably start at about $60 per night. If you look around for a bargain (or find a deal on a website) you might be able to knock it down to $40 or $45 per night. That's for a very simple room in an ordinary looking hotel.

Now, you say how much does it cost for a tourist. If that means just yourself, I'd bring enough for $75 a day at the least and $100 a day if you want to be a bit more comfortable or have shopping money.

I would really suggest finding a hotel that charges by the week. You get a nice deal, the rooms have kitchens in them (so you can grocery shop and cook instead of going to a restaurant) and the rooms are usually nice for what they cost.

The San Diego zoo is world famous, and there is lots to do in that area of the city. Have a good trip.
