  1. Just depends on what curriculum you do.

  2. It's free through your public library. I did that for my oldest two sons from birth until about age 10, then I purchased some materials for about $20.00 per subject. (4 subjects, so $80.00 per year) Rod and Staff curriculum.

They are now 11 and 14 years old and the oldest is preparing to graduate. (BIG SMILE HERE)

Their SAT scores showed post high school level performance at their 3rd and 5th grade testing. :o) I carry those results in my purse and have whipped them out for many busy-bodies.(especially useful in super-market lines)

When I found out that the tester we were dropping them off for was a public school teacher, it made me nervous, but she was impressed. And the crowd they tested in was big, but we got nothing but compliments about their manners. YES!

  3. Well, it can be anything from free, using the public library, to costing thousands of dollars per year.  We spend $3000 a year to HS one child.

You should look into the virtual charter school, MNVA:

The Minnesota Virtual Academy is one of the fastest growing public schools in Minnesota today. Established in 2002, MNVA serves students throughout the state with excellence and individualized attention. The combination of the K¹² curriculum, committed Minnesota-licensed teachers, and involved parents is the key to this powerful educational choice for Minnesota families.

For the 2008-2009 school year, enrollment in the Minnesota Virtual Academy is now open for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

  4. Where I live, you get homeschooling, or the correspondance papers for free after Grade 9. I am hoping to go into homeschooling next year, although the only problem is convincing my parents...

  5. If you go online and search for home schooling. I am not sure of the us system but in the uk their are websites you can goto to find out home schooling. If you want i could do some investigation for you. My email is public so you should be able to get my details

  6. Homeschooling can cost as much or as little as you wish to spend. Budget Home$chool provides links to thousands of educational websites that are totally free. The library is an excellent resource.

You are only limited by your imagination. There is no reason EVER to spend thousands on homeschooling materials.

Yahoo is a terrific resource too. Freecycle.org contains a list of yahoo groups, where local people actually give away books, curriculum and much more. The sites intent is to keep things out of the landfill. Most communities have their own homeschool yahoo group as well as statewide groups.

Making connections to homeschoolers in your area is a terrific way to find out about free resources in your area. Many museums and other businesses offer free days, at least once monthly. Local groups often offer curriculum sales and swaps too.

    Happy Homeschooling!

  8. Unschooling will cost whatever you want to spend on materials, visits etc. A pre-made or on-line curriculum will vary depending on which one you use. Try checking out the website below

  9. I don't know for sure where you live but most places have online charter schools that are free.
