How much does in vitro cost in Canada? Does Medicare cover it? Does ANY insurance cover it?

My doctor told me that I cannot have kids, and the wait for adoption is 8-10 years. I am depressed because I might not get the chance to be a mother. Any information would be much appreciated.

  1. You could adopt from overseas. No, it doesn't get covered by Medicare. In vitro is not medically necessary. It is like asking if it will cover plastic surgery.

  2. I think some insurance companies might cover part of it  If you have a MD say you have no other options.. couldn't tell you who.. In vetro cost upwards of about $45000 a cycle in US and only has about a 10 percent chance of conception. Medicare pays only necessary  things. they don't even dental..even if you have major infection going into bloodstream so they will never cover non essentials. I would find a MD who does that procedure and go to their office and ask them about that..they would know who covers what.
