We live on the coast and our house is in a flood zone. We are thinking of lifting it because we are continually hit with hurricanes in this area. The house is not odd shaped, it pretty much is the shape of a box. It's 2 stories, brick and 2,000 square feet.... 1,000 for each floor. We aren't wanting a basement... just to lift it above the high water mark. What is a ball park figure?

  1. Try Googling house moving companies and ask them for a ballpark figure. You'd have add a bit extra for reattaching services afterward. There might also be an issue with getting a permit from your municipality because they might require you to upgrade the foundation/footings (or pretty much anything they think is a good idea) at the same time. My guess would be at least 7500-10,000. Good luck.

  2. It's also going to vary depending on whether you're in an earthquake zone (such as sections of the Carolinas).
