The dominican peso is about 30 for one US dollar and life is not exactly cheap there, vacation? Sure! but permanently it takes a lot, i have family there.

This is such a general question. Some things are cheap, and some things are more costly. You can buy a very nice home for under $20,000. Gasoline is very high priced. There are some people from US or Canada that retire in DR.
