  1. a bunch of airplanes gonna get parked. has to happen. labor costs  must  come down dramatically as well. just too many seats in the air and somethings gotta give.

  2. There was an article on that this week.  The cost has gone up 80% over the past year but the airlines haven't been able to keep up, even with the surcharge.

It's bad enough that Friday, 5th, Continental announced it was cutting flights and pulling 50, 747's and 737's from it's active fleet.  Apparently United announced something similar earlier in the week.

So the current price of Jet-A at $4.35 per gal is probably to much.  There has to be wrong when you buy by the gallon and consume by the ton.

  3. Roughly $208,000.00 for a 747-300.

  4. a 747 uses about 0.75 litres per second per engine the flight from new york to dublin is about 8 hours , there is 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute, and jet fuel costs about 82 eurocents per litre, and there are 4 jet engines

    so 8x60x60x4x0.75x0.82 =70,848 euro = 111,949 dollars
