From the Brussels South Station Midi to Brussels North Station (Noord) . Will the taxi be possible to catch at 1am?

How much and how long does it take for a single train (normal not eurostar) from Brussels to Paris? Do we need to buy in advance.

Thank you very much for your help.

  1. Taxis shouldn't be a problem indeed, not even at 1am. If you come in the weekend there are even nightbusses (check info on www.mivb.be).

Why don't you want to go to Paris by Thalys ? (the eurostar is the train from Brussels to London, does not travel between Brussels & Paris).

If you buy your ticket in advance it's not that xpensive and it's really fast (1h25), only to get to Lille by normal train you need to change trains in Tournai and it takes 1h30. I'm not sure if the French railways still run normal trains : no French person would dream of going anywhere by normal train if they can take a TGV.

  2. First of all, trains to Paris leave from Brussels Midi, so why would you need to gor from there to the Gare du Nord (Brussels). Are you sure you do not confuse with the Gare du Nord (Paris) where all trains from Brussels arrive.

All trains between Brussels and Paris are operated by Thalys (website www.thalys.be) where you can check timetable and prices. The time needed from Brussels to Paris is 1 h 25 mins.

You normally need to book in advance on all international trains, but you can do so through the internet. If you must buy on the spot, in the station, you will get a seat on the next available train, so you might expect to wait for a couple of hours.

If you do not want to use Thalys, you should probably travel from Brussels to Namur, then Namur to Lilles (France), than Lilles to Paris. Considering the connection times, you might expect to spend the best part of a day.

Finally a small word of caution: in Belgium, most trains stop between 1 am and 5 am and the stations close between these hours.

  3. Yeah Taxis are easy to find and catch, About the train you might have to go from Brussels to Lille then to Paris to save on money if you dont want to catch the Eurostar it will only take about 3hours but uou may have to wait in Lille for a hour also.

    Enjoy
