  1. 4.90 stg.

  2. £4,000,000

  3. 9kWhs a year depends what you company charges...

  4. More than a refrigerator...

  5. I;ve never seen an electric kettle run?

  6. i use mine only on christmas and thanksgiving

  7. Lets assume a cup in the morning and 2 cups in the evening (of course, the more cups you drink in a day, the more it costs), and assume 5 minutes to boil a kettle - htats 15 mins a day. Most kettles are about 1kw rating, so 15 mins of boiling a day uses 1/4 of a unit of electricity.

Over a year, 3 cups a day, thats about 90KWh - 90 units of electricty.

Domestic electricity costs about 9p a unit. 90 annual units at 9p, thats £8.10 a year, or there abouts - say £10 a year for 3 cups a day (if my sums are right anyway)

  8. You do need to keep track of the decimal point for this kind of thing, while his logic is good (though an hour a day may be a bit high) , tlbs is off by an order of magnitude on his final number.

The guy who can't get a good nickname, can at least keep track of his decimal point, plus he uses monetary units that may be more common in places where "electric kettles" are used. Here in the US we have lots of electric coffee makers, but not so many electric kettles.

  9. Surely that depends on the size of the kettle, how much water is in it,and how many brews you make a day. codger

  10. It depends on how much you use it.

    1 hour per day @ 1500 Watts @ 8 cents/kWhr = $438 per year.

Less if you operate it less.  More if your electricity costs more.  I guessed at the power of the kettle -- probably pretty close.
