for an eye exam and glasses at Lenscrafters? Sams Club? and are either of these any good?

Lenscrafters is a really good place to get glasses if you want to get designer...But Sams is good too. Of course though, Sams is going to be cheeper also =]

They are both good depending on what you want. Cheaper no-name glasses at Sams. More expensive designer glasses at Lenscrafters.
