Hey! I'm a Canadian student, I want to study my first year in NZ. has anyone done something similar to this? What's the cheapest way? I've been looking at going to Wellington or Massey for uni.

but, of course....cheaper is better. I understand it will probably be pretty pricey. Has anyone done this?Tuition, Living, airfare, etc, for about a year. I've done some research, I am just looking for a more personal account of this.

Thanks so much!

  1. Hi, I am currently studying at Massey University in Palmerston North (BBS degree) and I can highly reccomend it. Being an international student is always expensive, have a look at http://www.massey.ac.nz/ as each papers have differnt fees.

Palmerston North is a student town but still not too large. This means you can get around easily without paying too much petrol and wasting time sitting in traffic for ages getting to and from Uni. Massey in Palmy has a bustling campus and a very good academic reputation.

You can get a room in a shared flat for about NZ$60 - 120 a week, usually including bills. You can buy a car for $2000 - $3000 (crappy but fully functional that you can onsell when you leave) Petrol will set you back $40 or so a week depending on car and how much you use it. Food bill is likely to be $60 or so a week and then you need an entertainment allowance.
