With the economy being what it is seems like this money would be better spent somewhere else. Addtionally how much do we spend with the flyovers at the same events, including football...etc.

  1. Sponsoring a car is an advertising expence.  Every company is going to spend x number of dollars on advertising.  Part of that advertising mix for some companies includes nascar.  Same situation with armed forces sponsoring cars.  They have to recruit people.  This is one avenue for doing this.  They dont just dump 20 million into nascar because they enjoy racing.  So companies engage in this to HELP their bottom line which in turn brings IN tax dollars to the government.

  2. Motorsports are a net plus for the economy and government tax collection. Without motorsports hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes would have to be collected from taxpayers to make up the difference.

  3. heres another one

  4. I'm just curious on where you got the idea that tax money goes to nascar. You should be more concerned about all the tax money that goes to the NFL, Baceball, hockey teams and stadiums ect. Tax money doesn't even go to building tracks and I believe Nascar rakes in more money than any other sport therefore paying out more tax money than anyother sport

  5. All branches of the military have a marketing budget.  They place ads on TV, magazines, billboards, etc..  Sponsoring Nascar race cars is just another avenue of marketing.  The Nascar market if a key market for them.  If they didn't sponsor Nascar cars and events they would put that money into another form of advertising.  So the taxpayers don't pay more than they would if the military wasn't in Nascar.  It's simple marketing.

  6. except for the cars sponsored by the armed forces i don't know of tax payers funding anything at races or other sporting events. as far as the flyovers, i'm not sure who pays for them. i don't know how much it cost the armed forces for their sponsorships but if it cost alot it must be shrubs fault.

  7. The Armed Forces sponsor several cars, and the Military does fly-overs during each event. The tax payers foot the bill.

Their research shows that they get a valuable return on their investment in the form of powerful recruiting as well as morale. Do you value the Armed Forces?

  8. Not much really, sponsorship by the armed forces comes out of the recruiting budget every year, so it's no different than the commercials you see all the time. As for the fly-overs, the planes are already up on a training flight anyway, and it's worked into the mission profile for that flight. In other words they take off, do some training, do a 10 second fly-over, then go back to training, or the fly-over's at the end of the mission, so it's not like they're up there to solely do the flyover.

  9. taxpayers do not sponsor race cars.. big businesses do.. the individual business pays for its own advertising.. weather that advertisement be on a race car, attached plane flying over the game, on a billboard, or a TV commercial. so my answer is nothing.. they're advertisements don't cost taxpayers anything.
