Are you sending this from the US?

Here is what I usually do, because it's so easy and fast:

I go to www.amazingmail.com

And use their service to mail a postcard to anywhere in the world for about a dollar, including postage.  Additional benefit is that you get to upload a picture to be printed on the postcard!

Where are you sending it from? Contact your local post office or go to their website to find out.

If you actually go to NZ, don't put your card or letter in a residential mail box as I did when I moved from the USA to NZ. The letter stayed there for days until my host told me that the "posties" deliver all non-junk mail  on bicycles, but you need to find a post office or mail drop to get it sent!
