Im doing a school project creating a business and want it to be accurate. I just never thought to ask this before, and dont even have the slightest clue. Fox's website doesnt give a price and I got on the phone with a sales rep and he didnt want to just give me a price he wanted a commitment. So i just hung up.

  1. I'd call them back and ask for the sales manager. Explain to them that this is a school project and you aren't working for one of their comp. Tell them your instructors name at the school and their phone number and ak them to check you out if they don't believe you. If they refuse to give you any of this information I'd go to the instructor and tell them what's happening. You aren't telepathic so unless they, FOX, cooperates you aren't going to get the information.

  2. That answer above is excellent!

  3. It really depends on where you live - how big is the market - and what time of day you advertise.  In a small market you could buy 30-seconds for a little as $25 at night, or on Saturday afternoon.  On the other hand the Idol finale in New York may have cost as much as $200,000.  Even what month you buy can change the price by 50%.

In an average size market - say Phoenix - you could buy a :30 commercial in "House" for roughly $7,500.  (Actually, if you bought just one it would be more but that's about how much big advertisers pay.)  It's all negotiated and everyone pays a different rate.  Most advertisers would run at least 10 comparable commercials per week, so that would cost $75,000 per week or about $300,000 per month.
