  1. It depends on what you want.  You can buy a used 1960's/70's vintage jet that seats 6-8 (Lear, Hawker etc...)  with lot's of time and cycles for around half a million.  Bear in mind these are probably not certified in certain types of airspace due to older equipment at a price like that.

Depending on how far you want to go and how many friends you want to take, you could spend up to almost $50 million dollars for a new large cabin jet (G-550, GLEX), and you'd even get to pick your own paint job!

The 'new' kids on the block are called Very Light Jets.  There are a handful of these small, modern aircraft that are being sold for between $1.2-2 million.  Aircraft in this category include the new Eclipse 500 and the Cessna Mustang among (many) others.

If you plan to buy one, don't forget some of the additional costs:  Pilot salaries (we're not cheap!), airframe/engine/avionics/liability insurance, maintenance, hangar rent etc...  oh and Jet fuel is selling upwards of $7/gallon in some places.  (That makes a 'top-off' in the plane I fly almost $9000)

Don't give up just yet... lot's of people we fly probably never thought they'd be travelling by private jet either.

  2. depending on the type of jet, it could be anywhere from 1 to 50 million dollers. ( or possibly more)

  3. do you want to fly it yourself, or have a pilot!

    check out the cessna mustang....

and it ain't just buying it, flying it is expensive too!

i think it is rumored around $3,000,000

  4. I think the cheapest one is 4 million pounds

  5. Ok, some good and bad answers on this one....I don't know why people always throw out the prices on the NEW jets...in fact..you can buy an old Learjet 24 or 25 for as much as you can buy a Cessna 172 for...In fact..I flew a Lear 24 two years ago that was purchased for a whopping  $135,000...No RVSM...but it was legal and able to fly safely....so..your ranges can vary widely...depending on what your mission is....It can range from $100,000 to $70,000,000...
