If you have high speed internet, download skye or yahoo messenger to you computer, plug a microphone into the computer (anything will do for as little as $10 for the mic or you can get a headset or philips VOIP phone at Walmart for $29), pay with paypal or credit card minimum of $10 to start your account.

Then talk to landlines for 2cents a minute or less. If you both have high speed internet then you can talk through your computers for free using VOIP which is again part of skype and yahoo messenger. you can also use microsoft messenger.

Attach a webcam for even more fun and do it all for free.

See here for a list of access numbers that you can use from a landline phone: http://niftylist.co.uk/calls/to/germany/... From 0.50p per minute - I use those to call home and they work well.
