  1. It certainly won't be cheap, with vets' fees as they are these days - and that's if you can find someone to undertake the job for you.

Mind you, you're only losing money - the poor horse has a lot more to lose !

  2. Ok, if it is a straightforward job, you are looking at i would say approx £200.  There will be a vets call out charge, sedation, local anaesthetic, the procedure itself and poss some anti-inflammatory/painkilling drugs.

However, it all depends upon if both testicles have dropped.  If one hasnt, then you are looking at a bill of at least £600+ as its much more complicated, they have to go to the vets etc.

Most are very straightforward.  The best thing to do is call some vets local to you and get a basic quote.  The most ideal time of year is spring or autumn, based on that there will be less flys hence less chance of infection etc on the wound. The horse will be a bit grotty for a few days but will be much happier in the long run.  Its also advisable that the horse can be turned out as much as possible following the procedure as it helps to reduce any swelling.

    Hope that helps a little.
